FOR THE 6th YEAR, IDS PROVIDED SENIOR CITIZENS AT KRETA AYER, FREE VACCINATION FOR INFLUENZA
Saturday afternoon, 26th November 2015
For 6 consecutive years, our doctors and clinic staff of Infectious Disease Specialists Group continued with this community outreach program. As before, we partnered with the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Kreta Ayer Senior Citizens Activity Centre (KACC) to provide free influenza vaccination to the elderly residents of Kreta Ayer. This year, however, it was held at a function room at the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple as the Kreta Ayer Community Centre was under renovations.
Staff of the Temple and the Activity Centre worked hard in providing the logistics support and actively encouraged residents to take the vaccination. As the function room at the Temple was smaller than the KACC, Doctors and the Staff Nurses worked swiftly to provide the vaccinations to the elderly. Some elderly also took the opportunity to talk to Dr Wong and Dr Lam on their various ailments.
Whilst Doctors and Staff Nurses administered the flu vaccinations at the Temple, another group of our Staff Nurses from IDS also went to the surrounding flats to administer the flu vaccinations to the immobile residents that were not able to come to the temple. In total, 361 elderly residents were given the influenza vaccination.
Dr Lily Neo, Member of Parliament of Jalan Besar GRC, was there to grace the occasion again. She also helped to vaccinate several of the elderly residents at the Temple.
All of us at IDS Group are very happy that many of the residents came back yearly to take the influenza vaccination.
We also wish to thank Sanofi for allowing us to purchase the vaccines at a discounted rate.
