29th November 2014, Kreta Ayer SCAC – from 1.30 pm to 4 pm
For 5 consecutive years, the staff of Infectious Disease Specialists Group have partnered with the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and the Kreta Ayer Senior Citizens Activity Centre to provide free influenza vaccination to elderly residents of Kreta Ayer.
The Temple and the Activity Centre worked hard to encourage residents to take the vaccination. As a result, this year, we were overwhelmed with the number of residents requesting for the vaccines. We had to make last minute procurement of some vaccines to ensure that all the residents managed to receive their required vaccinations. For the less mobile residents, a team of nurses went to their flats to administer the influenza vaccination to them. All in all, a total of 417 residents were vaccinated.
Member of Parliament, Dr Lily Neo was there to grace the occasion and she chatted and also helped to vaccinate several of the elderly residents.
All of us at IDS Group are very happy with the turnout and hope that there will even be more next year. We are very proud to be involved in this meaningful community outreach programme!
We also wish to thank Abbott for allowing to purchase the vaccines at a discounted rate.
